We say “buh-bye” to October and usher in a fresh, rather chilly November. The end of October also means the end of the pink-a-rific Upnorth.org. Instead of lamely hightailing it back to the original design, I decided I’d waste an otherwise completely good day redesigning the whole shebang. If you like it, great. If not, I’ll be happy to introduce my boot to your behind.

You may have noticed that I’m sort of sleepy, and outside of seeing double-everything, I’m also a bit surly. Enjoy it while it lasts.

As you can probably tell, the site has gone pink for October a little early. My thanks again to Matthew Oliphant and all the other participants for the inspiration and support. We hope you’ll take the time during the month of October to visit PinkforOctober.org and find out how you can help fight breast cancer.

The site will be undergoing a slight, temporary, redesign for the month of October to promote breast cancer awareness. As the headline succintly states, the site will be turning (even more) pink. I’m sure many of you have family or friends that have battled, or are battling breast cancer, and despite huge, heaping piles of good intentions, this is one of the few commitments I’ve made for this particular cause. Many thanks to the organizers, volunteers, and participants for doing something cool about a problem that’s affected my family, and so many others.

After serving our needs for over 2 years, the site recently received a much needed facelift. I’ve made every effort to enhance the performance and overall aesthetic, without sacrificing accesibility or standards compliance. We’re also using some new software that will necessitate finding ALL old posts in the “archive” section. If you find anything that seems “broken” or, at the very least, ill-conceived, please let us know ASAP.

Well, I’ve made enough changes to the site now to truly be satisfied, at least for awhile. Check it out and let me know if you see any problems.
