Up North ~ Life in Minnesota

Where does the time go!?!?!?Our Christmas Eve plans with my aunt and uncle in the cities were almost thwarted by a power outage in town. Just as we here getting up and ready for our trip in the morning, the entire town lost power! Not a very pleasant surprise as the idea of a hot shower on a cold morning was the only thing getting Jerry out of bed! Fortunately, the power was restored and we set off to the cities.

We had an uneventful drive; Gilbert slept most of the way there. Sadly, Dad and Grandma B weren’t able to make it down for Christmas…we missed them greatly, but we had such a fun time visiting with Chris and Em. It is so nice to be close to family, especially around the holidays. Of course the visit was too short, and before you could say “Christma-Hanu-Kwanzaa-Ka ” we were headed back home to spend Christmas Day in Saint Peter.

On Christmas day, we relaxed and opened presents. Gilbert was one happy little boy! The magic of Christmas is never so apparent until you have the chance to see it through the eyes of your children! Even without the presents I know that he enjoyed the season, the beauty of the Christmas lights and all of the wonderful Christmas stories were really his favorite parts of the holiday.

The day after Christmas, our dear friends the Coppesses came into town. It was so great to see them! Jerry got to hang out with the guys (Yay!) Gilbert got MORE presents (double yay!!) and Lisa and I got to play Scrabble (YAY!YAY!YAY!) Their stay was short, and left us feeling a bit homesick, but it really helped make our Christmas complete.

I hope that your Christmas was filled with as many family and friends, love and joy and magic as ours was…and I hope that it continues throughout the New Year!
