Visit to the Doctor

We had our 4 month check-up today…

Gilbert is now 25 1/2 inches long and 16 pounds 8 ounces, putting him in the seventieth and eightieth percentiles, respectively. He was such a good boy at the appointment, he only cried a little bit after his vaccinations. We talked to the pediatrician about starting solids, but since we have the family history of food allergies we will wait until 6 months to start rice cereal and orange vegetables. Gilbert seems very content with just milk thus far, so we are in no rush to start solid food.

Gilbert is working on rolling over, though he hasn’t done it on his own yet. The doctor said that often big boys take a bit longer to roll over, just because they have more mass to maneuver. She did say that his fine motor skills are excellent…he is always reaching for something to shove in his mouth! As always, he has smiles to share and lots of laughter. He also loves to talk to us. He babbles and squeals…music to his mother’s ears.
